United Spirits launch Romanov Red as non alcoholic drink

United Spirits Ltd, a leader in alcoholic drink has forayed into non alcoholic drink with its sub brand Romanov Red. Romanov Red is an energy drink made of Gurana, a Brazilian herb is priced around Rs.75/- and is launched in Kochi, Bangalore, Mumbai and Ludhiana. By March end, it will be available in Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkatta and Delhi. The company is optimistic as Romanov a vodka brand is doing well and culturally mix energy drinks with Vodka so a synergy will work in its favour. Energy drink market is growing at 60% for the last two years. It is dominated now by Red Bull and Cloud9.


KingFisher Buzz to be launched in 3 variants

United Breweries, a market leader of beer in India is planning to launch Kingfisher Buzz – a flavoured beer in 3 variants – berry, cola and lime to offset seasonal fluctuations. According to company, winter and monsoons make the beer sales drop as beer has to be consumed ice cold for best results. These variants which need not be chilled unlike beer. The company is making conscious efforts to move into new segments as a part of strategic plan.

Four Seasons to expand its Baramati winery

Four Seasons Wines Ltd,(FSWL) a UB group company and a subsidiary of United Spirits Ltd is planning to invest Rs.500 million to expand the winery capacity of Baramati in Maharashtra. The company plans to increase the plant capacity to 1 million cases (90 lakh litres) from its present capacity of 11.25 lakh litres. The expansion programme will be completed in 3 -4 years’ time. It has also entered into contract farming in 500 acres to meet the annual production requirement.
