Danone, the French dairy major has launched a traditional lassi (sweetened butter milk) in 3 flavours - mango, masala and sweetened in the markets of Bangalore, Mumbai and Pune. The company has used its expertise from fermented dairy products to bring out this traditional Indian drink fortified with 4 essential nutrients. The product is packaged at a price point of Rs.. 15/-
Luthra Water Systems, owners of Mulshi Springs is planning to set up a water bottling plant in Mulshi in Sahayadri mountains in Maharashtra. It is setting up a state-of-the-art bottling plant for European markets with an investment of Rs. 350 million. The new plant will have a capacity of 1.5 lakh PET bottles per day. The spring water reservoir at Mulshi has a capacity of 4 million liters per day and is expected to last over 200 years.
Lavazza, Italy based coffee brand which has presence in 90 countries and the owner of Barista and Fresh & Honest Café brands in India is planning to set up a coffee processing unit in Andhra Pradesh. The coffee unit will come up with an investment of Rs. 1200 million in Tada in Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh. It will become operational in middle 2012 and will cater to domestic and Asian markets.
