Gujarat Cooperative Milk Federation's Amul brand has launched Amul Diamond milk variant which is creamy and contains 7 percent fat and 9% solid but not fat (SNF) and is priced at Rs. 44 per litre in Gujarat. This variant will help Amul to garner customer who use buffalo milk for creamy milk needs. It is made available in 500 ml packs.
Gujarat Cooperative Milk Federation is planning to set up a dairy unit in Vasai near Thane in Maharashtra with an investment of Rs.1400 million. The unit will collect 10 lakh litres of milk from nearby villages. It may be noted, Amul also has a dairy unit at Rajgurunagar near Pune.
Hatsun Agro is planning to expand its dairy capacity at various plants. Currently, the company has 70000 litres of curd production capacity and is expanding it to 1.20 lakh litres. The facility at Palacode, coming up with an investment of about Rs 33 crore, will commence production in February 2013. The total capacity of Hatsun Agro is around 22 lakh litres a day and is likely to expand it by another 5 lakh litres. It may be noted, around 70 lakh litres of milk is procured in Tamil Nadu by the organized sector.
