Amrit Group plans foray into food processing

Amrit Group, a Kolkatta based group plans to invest Rs.3000 million to enter food processing segment in ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook segment. Currently, the company is operating in a similar category but in animal feed segment, where it receives 80% of its revenue. The company is also setting up a greenfield dairy unit (100,000 liters per day capacity)with an investment of Rs. 300 million . It has also plans to set up a meat processing plant in the near future. These investments will happen over a period of 3 – 5 years.

North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation (NERAMAC) is setting up cashew processing plant



North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation (NERAMAC) is setting up cashew processing plant in Mankachar in Dhubri district of Assam. The unit will have a capacity of 4 tonnes per day and will entail and investment of around Rs. 23 million. It is likely to become operational by early 2010. According to sources, necessary work order has been issued.

Apex plans food processing unit in Vizag


Apex Encon Projects Private Limited a Delhi based company is setting up a cold storage and food processing unit at Saluru near Visakhapatnam with an investment of about Rs 200 million. The company is already into defence food processing and packaging. It has around 370 acres of land at Saluru where they  cultivate vegetables and market under ‘farmers fresh’ brand. It will get Rs. 100 million as subsidy from Centre and Rs.70 million from financial institutions and Rs.30 million from promoters.

Karnataka sets up 4 food processing parks in Kolar, Mysore Hassan and Belgaum



Karnataka government is setting up four food processing parks with an investment of Rs 100 crore in four cities in the state is progressing well on schedule and will be commissioned next year. These parks will have all processing facilities, and also conference halls and cold storages. The main objective of these food processing parks is to promote exports. The government also plans an international marketing park on a 77-acre plot in Devanahalli.
