Classic Frozen foods to set up vegetable processing plant at Solapur

Classical Frozen foods is planning to set up a new vegetable processing plant with an investment of Rs. 20 million at Solapur in Maharashtra. The company is also acquiring Gomukh Foods’ Pirangut unit near Pune. Currently, the company exports processed vegetables to Middle East and will soon export to Australia and New Zealand. Its product line includes green peas, sweet corn, carrots, French beans, strawberries and custard apple. Its annual turnover could reach Rs.80 million once its Pirangut unit goes operational. Its current vegetable processing capacity is around 120 metric tonnes per month.

Oceanic Edibles commissions food processing plant

Oceanic Edibles International, a company of Oceana group with diversified interests has commissioned a food processing plant at Pondicherry with 23 tonnes/hr capacity with -18 deg Celsius storage at Marakanam near Pondicherry. The project entailed an investment of Rs.900 million. Last year the company ventured into contract farming and was successful and likes to repeat the same. Oceanic Edible exported 9000 tonnes of mango pulp, tomato paste, fruit concentrates and purees to global brands viz.J Garcia, Netra, Stute and Cargil and locally to Nestle.

Himalaya International to set up food processing plant at Mehesana

Himalaya International to set up food processing plant at Mehesana district of Gujarat. The project will entail an investment of Rs.1300 million and is expected to achieve a turnover of Rs.4000 million by first year and generating a profit of Rs.800 million a year. The plant is coming up on an area of 22 hectares and may provide employment to 1500 locals. It will commence operations by September 2010.

Jain Irrigation bags Rs.1580 million order for mango pulp from Coca-Cola. This year the company has received 85% higher than the previous season order. Its food processing business has been growing at a rate of 35% over five year and processed fruits and vegetables are always in demand in India and abroad. Its fruit processing plant are located at Jalgaon and Chittoor and also supported by research and development farms in that locations and encourages contract farming.
