MonaVie recently launched three new additions to their MonaVie One range of heat-and-eat foods – Ragi Meal, Broken Wheat Meal and Basmati Khitchree. It is made from finger millet, a source of protein, fibre, calcium, iron and other minerals. Broken Wheat Meal combines seeds, cereals, pulses and legumes while Basmati Khitchree is a combination of cereal (basmati rice), legumes (such as moong dal, tur dal and Bengal gram) and spices.
Victoria Foods of Rajdhani Group has launched Italian food products penne, fusilli and macaroni under the brand Banchetto. They are manufactured in a fully automated plant with Italian machinery to have the correct texture. The products of penne is priced at Rs. 45 for a 200 gm pack and the 500 gm pack is priced at Rs. 90/-. Similarly, the macaroni is priced at Rs. 26 for a 200 gm pack, 500 gm pack at Rs. 57 and 1 kg pack at Rs. 90.
Himalaya Drugs has entered into nutraceuticals space with launch of 'HiOwna' a nutrition supplement drink for kids. This will compete with Abbott's PediaSure, British Biological's KidsPro and Wockhardt's ProtienX Junior. Price around Rs. 180/- this product is available on prescription only. Many kids though look healthy but are deficient on micronutrients. The company expects to achieve a turnover of Rs. 3000 million over a period of 5 years in this segment.
ITC is planning to set up a manufacturing facility for instant noodles with partnership from Keventer group in Kolkatta. The project will entail an investment of Rs. 500 million and will have a capacity of 50 tonnes of instant noodles per day. It will use technology from Japan for packaging 450 packets per minute. Currently, ITC markets its noodles under the brand 'Sunfeast Yipee Noodles'
