Spices Board to set up Guntur Spice Park

Spices Board has planned to set up a Spice Park in Venkayalapadu and Maidavolu village in Edlapadu mandal in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. It will be chilli based park and will function along the lines of Puttady park in Kerala. Around 350 chilli farmers from 35 mandals in Guntur converged at "Sugandha Sangammam" will bring initiatives to strengthening and sustaining the supply chain of chillies. The project has support from World Spices Organization and will also encourage organic cultivation. Besides, Guntur Park, the board also has plans to set up similar parks in Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

The Guntur Spice Park has been completed with an investment of Rs. 230 million. The state government has allotted 124.78 acres of land for the project.
