Havmor Icecreams plans expansion

Hamvor Icecreams Ltd is planning to expand its retail outlets in India and abroad as wells as its manufacturing facilities. It has a current capacity of 60,000 liters and is setting up a new plant with a capacity of 1 lakh liters at Naroda in Gujarat.The company is growing at 25-30% per year and is planning to have 100 HavFunn outlets by 2011. The largest ice cream manufacturer in western India is also looking at options to explore markets in Dubai and USA. The company had novel flavours which include non-alcoholic whisky flavoured ice-creams, sugar free ice creams etc.,

Caesin Exports to be controlled

Caesin, a milk based protein which is exported from India is to be controlled to avoid short supply of milk in various states. According to sources, to produce 1 kg of Caesin, around 35 litres of milk has to be consumed and recently India has exported around 7000 tonnes of Caesin. It may be noted, Casein producers pay more than a rupee or two to milk producers diverting a chunk thereby creating short supply. Bhole Baba Dairy Industries, VRS Foods, Kohinoor Foods , Modern Dairies and Industrial Progressive (India) Ltd, Baramati (Maharashtra)-based Schreiber Dynamix Dairies Ltd are some of the companies which are into exporting Caesin. These companies enjoy 9 per cent duty entitlement passbook (DEPB) benefit on the free-on-board value of their shipments is likely to be withdrawn now.

Central Govt keen to develop food processing industry

Central Government is setting up a task force to give a fillip to food processing industry. It looks to alleviate poverty, as food processing industry is a major employment generator. It has identified few states and Orissa government has proposed to Centre to set up a food processing park in Malipada in Khurda district of the state with an investment of Rs. 500 million. It will assist entrepreneurs to set up the required infrastructure for the park. Work on the other food park coming up in Digapahandi in Ganjam district is also progressing.
