Potato, which is consumed across the country is also one of the largest processed vegetable. Around 35-40 units located across the country process potato now to the tune of 4-5 % is expected to go up by 10% by 2012. This will facilitate farmers to plan their cultivation and also reduce losses in terms of excess supplies. The demand for potato is estimated at 50 million tonnes by 2020. Blight disease and lack of cold storage facilities is the woe for farmers and hope to sort those problems out by that time.
