Caesin, a milk based protein which is exported from India is to be controlled to avoid short supply of milk in various states. According to sources, to produce 1 kg of Caesin, around 35 litres of milk has to be consumed and recently India has exported around 7000 tonnes of Caesin. It may be noted, Casein producers pay more than a rupee or two to milk producers diverting a chunk thereby creating short supply. Bhole Baba Dairy Industries, VRS Foods, Kohinoor Foods , Modern Dairies and Industrial Progressive (India) Ltd, Baramati (Maharashtra)-based Schreiber Dynamix Dairies Ltd are some of the companies which are into exporting Caesin. These companies enjoy 9 per cent duty entitlement passbook (DEPB) benefit on the free-on-board value of their shipments is likely to be withdrawn now.
