Nitta Gelatin setting up a second ossein unit at Vadodara

Nitta Gelatin, a leading manufacturer of gelatine and related products is setting up its second ossein unit in India in Vadodara in Gujarat. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 300 million and is likely to be commissioned by March 2011. The company total capacity is now around 4000 tpa and the Vadodara unit will add another 2000 tpa. It manufactures gelatine which is used as a hardcoat for capsules and tablets. The key raw material for gelatines which used to dry animal bones is facing short supply and the company is exploring fish scales and fish skin as raw materials.
