Veetee Fine Foods to venture into frozen foods


Veetee Fine Foods Ltd, a manufacturer and exporter of basmati rice who mainly caters to export countries now brings focus on domestic market. It plans to introduce authentic new products as well as to venture in frozen foods category. According to the company the ‘ready-to-eat’ market segment is growing at 30% every year and currently dominated by MTR, ITC and Veetee. 80% of market share belongs to them, while the rest 20% lies with the unorganized sector.

Pran Group to set up food processing units in India


Pran Group, a food processing firm based in Bangladesh is planning to set up food processing plants in Tamil Nadu, Tripura and Orissa. It is in advanced stages in setting up the Tripura agro processing plant with an investment of US$ 5 million. The group plans to take loans from Indian institutions  to finance these projects. The company manufactures products in  six categories, juice, snacks, confectioneries, dairy, premium rice and culinary products.  The projects would generate employment and also has export potential.

Baroda Dairy to set up tomato ketchup unit

Baroda Dairy Co-operative is to set  up a greenfield project in Bodeli area of Central Gujarat with an investment of Rs. 70 to 80 million. The co-operative has already acquired land in Bodeli which is situated in midst of Parvijetpur, Chhota Udepur and Sankeda where tomato grows on larger scale. The proposed plant will produce ketchup in bottles as well as pouches. This is the first dairy to venture into tomato ketchup manufacturing.

Citrus International plans orange juice processing unit in Amravati

Vidarbha region which is famous for farmer suicide and oranges will get first orange processing unit in Amravati. Citrus International, a Swiss company is setting up a orange juice processing unit with an investment of Rs. 1700 million. The plant with a 4 lakh tpa capacity will process mandarin oranges, satgudi and sweet oranges. The company will enter into contract farming with 20000 farmers to source these oranges. MSAPB has signed MoU with Citrus International to provide these agri procurement licenses.
