Centre Govt plans 20 more mega food processing parks

Ministry of Food Processing is planning to set up 20 more mega food processing parks, atleast one in each state to provide fillip to food processing sector in each state. It has already approved 10 mega food parks in Andhra, Assam, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, UP, Uttarakhand and West Bengal. It has also recommended simplifying tax structure. According to Ernst & Young the sector is poised to grow at 30-40% over the next 10 years.

FieldFresh Foods to set up a manufacturing unit in Hosur

FieldFresh Foods, a joint-venture company between Del Monte Pacific arm, DMPL and Bharti Airtel is planning to invest Rs. 2000 million. In phase I, the company is setting up a manufacturing unit in Hosur with an investment of Rs. 1000 million. It will produce sauces, canned juices, mustard and mayonnaise. It is also likely to manufacture PET bottles locally. The company is scouting for technology partners to set up pineapple research unit in Siliguri. Currently, the company has presence in 25 cities with 15000 outlets and plans to double them in the next financial year.


LMJ International to set up maize processing complex in Orissa

LMJ International, a Kolkatta based company is planning to set up a maize processing plant at Dhodra in Nabrangpur in Orissa with an investment of Rs. 1500 million. The district administration of Orissa will provide 125 acres of land. Of this 60 acres of land will be allotted immediately and 65 acres will be provided at later stage. It may be noted, that 50% of maize production of Orissa happens in the district. Annual maize production of Orissa is estimated at 5 lakh tonnes.

Neesa Agritech forays into frozen food business

Neesa Agritech, an Ahmedabad based agri-biotech company is venturing into frozen foods business with its new brand “Instant Indian”. It plans to launch the brand in all categories like curries, bread, snacks and desserts. It plans to launch its products by January 2010 and also plans to export the same to Gulf, UK and USA. Its USP, as it claims to be 100% natural ingredients. Neesa Agritech is a sister company of Neesa Leisure which runs hotels under the brand ‘Campbay”.
