Cadbury to launch 'Toberlone' in India

Cadbury is planning to launch its parent's brand 'Toberlone' in India. With the success of Ferrero Rocher from Italy, Cadbury is set to penetrate the premium segment. The company had earlier launched the brand 'Silk' but has not achieved much success. Since 'Toberlone' being the world largest selling chocalate brand, Cadbury plans to launch several pack sizes of Toblerone in India at a price range of Rs 50-400, retail and Toblerone's entry price varies between Rs 55-80 per pack of 50 gm. Cadbury's premium chocolate brands like Celebrations, Bournville and Dairy Milk Silk have been under pressure ever since Ferrero set up its Indian subsidiary four years ago.

Parle Products to launch Parle Gold-a premium glucose biscuits

Parle Products has launched a premium glucose biscuits 'Parle Gold' in Mumbai. The biscuits are priced at Rs..10/- for a 100 gram pack has richer formulation. Glucose is one of the oldest category with 35% market share in the biscuit segments and the company expects the segment to grow at 15% per year. Currently, Parle Products is the market leader in the segment with 80% market share.

Lotus Chocolate plans chocolate factory in Hyderabad

Lotus Chocolates Co, belonging to Puzzolona group is setting up a greenfield facility in Hyderabad to produce chocolate chips. The plant will have a capacity of 12 tpd and will go operational in March 2012. Currently, the company has a capacity of 350 tonnes per month and plans to triple in 3 years. It also plans to introduce 'Magic' chocolate brand adding it to its portfolio of its own 10 brands.

Britannia to set up new unit in Orissa

Project Location : Orissa, Orissa

Britannia is planning to set up a new unit in Orissa with an investment of Rs. 450 million. It had asked the state govt to allot 10-12 acres of land in the Bhubaneshwar-Cuttack belt and plans to have a manufacturing unit with a capacity of 2500 tonnes of biscuits per month. Currently, the company has a plant in Mayurbhanj bordering West Bengal. It also plans to set up a similar unit in Bihar. Work on the project is expected to start soon, as the land allotement is expected within weeks.
